Tina Kalivas at RAFW so wrong yet so right

Tina Kalivas delivered a surprisingly wonky show at RAFW with one surprising high point - pastels.
TK made the muted hyper-feminine tones work thanks to a variety of clever combinations. Using the lady shades in an argyle patchwork manner paired with hot red, Chinese apple green, bright blue and black. The peachy blouse she showed worked because it shot down the runway with a high-waisted light blue trouser. And this sweater, or in Australian, jumper happens because of the bat wing.
Pastels are part of the fashion reference area of high-waists, wide legs and long straight hair that is most places now and will be everywhere SS 08/09
I know. It's mind blowing. Pastels. Who would have thought? And more than one fashion fiend agreed. When we stopped Jason Campbell from the JC Report as he left the show he concurred. JC had the same reaction I did. "How could something so wrong seem so right?" He asked himself as the pastels hurtled down the catwalk.
Somehow, come summer, this is going to be the shiz.
