After such a deliciously elongated build up, it was no surprise that when the Night of the Yeezy finally rolled into Melbourne, there were some kids who were so excited they needed a dose of Ritalin to check themselves. After much jockeying to get on the guestlist, the secret party venue was brilliant and perfect for the Yeezy – blacklit, glossy and sexified with lasers scoping the room and go-go dancers Touching the Sky! With tunes tailored by the inimitable Raph Boogie, the eclectic crowd mingled as rumours swept the room. How many shoes? Who couldn’t make the guestlist? Who wanted them bad? Who would miss out? So many questions, so little time. After a brief introduction, the raffle was on and thankfully it was a painless process. As each lucky punter's name was called, the tension built until the final pair was done and dusted. Thanks to everyone at Nike for putting on a very smooth night that ran like clockwork. Not everyone could go home with a pair of Kanye's under their armpits, but Nike made sure everyone was a winner with stacks of Kanye CDs and glow in the dark Sneaker Freakers for the guests who made it on down.
