Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza, has been crowned Miss Universe 2008 in Nha Trang Vietnam in a ceremony this afternoon.
21-year-old Miss Australia, Laura Dundovic made it to the top 10, but did not make the final five. She succeeded in the swimsuit round wearing a green bikini, also paraded a red gown by Melbourne designer Connie Simonetti and a tiered organza dress with boomerang breastplate by Jayson Brunsdon.
As per 2007's trip tragedy, Miss USA fell down during the evening gown section of the beauty competition. Crystle Stewart, tripped on the train of her evening gown as she made her entrance. Miss USA 2007, Rachel Smith, also tumbled during the evening gown competition.
Miss Universe is on Channel 7 tonight at 10:30pm.
