One of my all time favourite labels on a major worldwide takeover is ‘sophisticated streetwear’ brand, MadeMe. At the helm of the label is Supreme/Umbro-collab alumni Miss Erin Magee, who at 17 took the plunge, moving from Canada the Big Apple to express herself through fashion and design. Just like her idol Madonna, she was on a quest to seek fame and fortune in the city that never sleeps.

After killing it last season with her authentic ‘70s-patterned leggings (way before Lindsay Lohan thought it was cool to do the same) and pure sex leather biker jackets, Magee track-stands her way back into the top spot with her transport-themed collection for Spring’09. The range is "inspired by girls on-the-move, representing females who aren’t afraid to take the driver’s seat" Magee says.

Erin draws on her insane obsession of all things ‘Madonna’ (check out the tattoo. Hectic!). This season she uses images from the Material Girl’s provocative Sex book (which incidentally was given to Erin as a present from her boyfriend when she was 16). Props to her ex for having the foresight to lace Erin with the banned publication. It eventuated the  Where were you in ‘92 photo T-shirt - creepy pop culture at its finest. The combination of a young Vanilla Ice seedily mackin’ on an under-dressed, over-sexed Madonna in the height of her Truth or Dare fame is a pure stroke of brilliance.

MadeMe is in fact straight from the lyrics ‘you made me feel shiny and new’ - Magee's personal motto as well as the brand name. MadeMe owes its magic and vision to an incredibly talented lady who has the ovaries to create cutting edge designs and apparel that accommodates a more fashion-forward street sister.
