Hurrah for the eccentric English! John Galliano, the British designer of French label Dior has received the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. The award is equivalent to being named a knight, and in the past has also been awarded to Christian Lacroix.

Galliano has to turn his shwos down a notch last year because of the global financial disaster we're not calling a depression. This year, his confidence will surely be boosted with this award, even if he has to keep his usually outlandish shows on the low down.
