There’s something empowering about wearing really great underwear. The perfect bra and underpants makes you self-confident and sexy. So why is it that so many of us have underwear drawers full of Nana pants and faded monstrosities with the elastic poking out?

Enter Hopeless, the lingerie label by Gabrielle Adamidis. Hopeless specialises in vintage-inspired lingerie and sleepwear, made from sumptuous fabrics. They're meticulously hand-finished, using techniques which ensure the longevity of each piece. Think silk. Think organic. Think bespoke. This is the lingerie that dreams are made of. Dreams, people.

Having studied fashion design at TAFE, Gabrielle hit upon the idea of starting a lingerie company with a definite mission. “I wanted to create something that was high-quality, vintage inspired and that celebrated women's figures. More than anything I want Hopeless to be something that is uplifting and makes women of all sizes proud of their bodies,” she says.

Gabrielle takes care of the designs, patterns, production and promotion of her garments, ensuring a rare kind of creative integrity.

Currently, Hopeless has two ranges to its name and sells on etsy. The first being a black and white collection inspired by Breakfast At Tiffany’s and the second inspired by the singing flower garden in Alice In Wonderland.

With big name lingerie boutiques knocking on her door, the future looks bright for Gabrielle and Hopeless. “I hope to do three ranges this year,” says Gabrielle. “I want to use more organic fabrics and focus on pieces that blur the line between everyday-wear and lingerie. Ultimately I would love to open my own little boutique in the city somewhere, but that is a few years away yet!”

Buy Hopeless on etsy. Prices range from US $30 for black organic bamboo jersey Fred briefs to US $371 for the black silk structured Yunioshi bustier with white frill side detail.
