Fashion designer Wayne Cooper has been charged by police with assaulting his wife during a row overnight at the couple's home in the Sydney eastern beachside suburb of Tamarama.
The 44-year-old London born Cooper has also had an interim apprehended violence order taken out against him, restraining him from contact until the case comes before Waverley Local Court next week. Cooper, who has two children to 40-year-old Sarah Marsh, was questioned by police for several hours at Waverley police station this morning before being released on police bail after being charged.
Police said Cooper has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. He is expected to answer the charges during an appearance before the court next Thursday.
A police spokesman said the interim AVO was in force until the court appearance and a decision as to whether it should be extended will be made during the hearing.
