Bris Vegas shop tour 1

The postie just delivered the most anticipated envelope of my snail mail year. Big props to Grandma and her fine decision to increase my birthday bank balance - this year it's 200 big ones. I have a dire need for some new wardrobe bling, so it’s off to S-LaB in Fortitude Valley, Brisvegas.
On the sneaker rack, the Puma Unlimited Highs ($139.95) were looking mighty tasty. Lucky I ate a pack of Allen's snakes earlier, or there'd be slobber all over the confectionery-esque Puma Disc Blazes. But I add the Vans Vault Mt Edition High MX ($169.95) to my cart, being an exclusive release available in limited stores across Australia.
T-shirts abound, including Kid Robot (famed for their vinyl toys also available instore), and local label “Outskirts” by Dylan Martorell, exclusive to S-LaB. With a sale rack full of $25 Fifty24SF tees, I have to grab one.
The hoodies by Brissy-based Big Undie take my fancy, especially the one with the Y-Fronts all over it ($140). I’m further delighted by the matching sneakers, a novel idea at $180 a pair.
For the train ride home, there’s an impressive selection of streetwear and graphic art related publications including King Brown ($30) and T-world ($15). I realise I've only $10 left, so with the change from my morning coffee, I grab the latest edition of Sneaker Freaker ($10) and hit the road with new kicks, T-shirt and magazine firmly in hand.
Thanks Granny, now you’ll have something else to marvel at aside from my “terrible haircut” next time I come to visit.
