Jennifer Hawkins and Rebecca Twigley starred in a pool party-themed spring summer showcase last night at the Prince of Wales in St Kilda. Guests including Vince Colosimo, Michael and Lindy Klim, Chris Judd, that guy from
Neighbours who was in
The Bill and Lillian Frank, swilled high class champagne while models lolled in their togs.
For those more familiar with the grimey band room and its excellent sound system, this gig was upstairs in the posh part, well away from Fitzroy Street's beggars and junkies.
Jennifer Hawkins drew admiring gazes from male guests such as Colosimo, in what was some fairly bland and juvenile swimwear. Judy Coomber, director of fashion and beauty at Myer was keen to point out that the store will continue its long relationship with Seafolly. That label always delivers some interesting and well-constructed swimwear for a range of ages and body shapes.
In racewear Rebecca Twigley shone in a bright watermelon strapless dress from TL Wood and a strong frill-less headpiece. In addition to feminine florals, this bright, elegant look will be a major part of spring racing this year. The annoying frippery of cheap fascinators is long gone, thankfully. It's time now for headpieces and proper hats. Channel a little of the late Isabella Blow and you're on the right track.
Singer Paris Wells belted out a number or two, and proved she is not just one of the few people in the world who can wear egg yolk yellow, but a real talent to boot.
We've mentioned the store wars before, and Myer are clearly upping the ante by stocking labels like Maticevski, Jayson Brunsdon, TL Wood, Nicola Finetti, Karen Walker, Moschino Cheap and Chic, Mad Cortes, Camilla and Marc, Josh Goot and Manning Cartel for this spring/summer.
