Looney Tunes lunacy

Looney Tunes lunacy

Who's saying what

The kid from Two And A Half Men has said he'll retire from acting once the show's off the air - so, there's a tiny consolation... PS. I love Space Jam.

Remember when magazines went through a stage of adding "liscious" to the end of everything in an effort to disguise their recycled ideas? Well it seems film execs everywhere are doing something similar with the word "3D".

Despite the disaster story that was Loonatics Unleashed (Warner Brothers' poor attempt at reviving the franchise by making it XTREME!!!), WB appear unyielding in their efforts to relaunch/reimagine/reinvigorate the animated series - this time by replacing its classic narratives with something more XTREME 3D relevant.

Here's Dane Fellman of Warner Brothers to tell you all about the happy marriage of 3D and Looney Tunes: "Audiences have always delighted in Wile E. Coyote's dogged pursuit of the Road Runner, with hilarious, albeit predictable, results. We are thrilled to be presenting these characters for the first time in 3D, which will heighten the excitement and humor of the chase, not to mention the impact—at least for Wile E. We're sure these three new adventures will entertain a new generation of fans while reminding us all why these two characters have been beloved for so long."

The 3D cinema shorts will play before the big upcoming WB releases in an attempt to promote the pants off the new series hitting the Cartoon Network later this year. The Looney Tunes Show will feature Daffy and Bugs as odd-couple roommates and your other favourite characters as their neighbours in some kind of Two-And-A-Half-Men-cum-Friends hybrid.

That said, it can't be worse than the aforementioned Loonatics Unleashed:

Yes it can (be worse). Before Loonatics, we would have said "Loonatics can't be worse than Space Jam!". More beloved 2D fun from childhood getting rebooted-to-death :( And if I may indulge: I HATE Two & A Half Men. Who's with me? It's easy to be popular when all the actually-popular sitcoms have retired.

Oh God, say it ain't so! The original Looney Tunes cartoons are works of comic genius. Ever derivation they've attempted since has been just... shit. Can't we just leave well enough alone and try and raise the kids of today on the best of the original series? Which I maintain at its best was as good as animation, dialogue, sound design and comic timing have ever gotten. To wit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz65AOjabtM
