As anyone who once loved
Sex & The City, or who still holds a candle for
Arrested Development, will know, the whole business of transporting beloved television comedy series to the big screen is a fraught one.
(In fact, to borrow from
The Simpsons, "the road to
Superbowl the megaplex is long and pointless.")
For some time now, there have been whispers of a movie being made of the beloved
Party Down, the
brilliantly downbeat comedy series that was taken from us too soon. In September last year, star Adam Scott
insisted that the film was "90% there".
Well, now costar Megan Mullally has brought all the
Party Down fans a late Christmas gift. Evidently the film's story outline was "enthusiastically approved" by investors, and according to
The Hollywood Reporter, Mullally
told the Television Critics Association: "I will be doing the
Party Down movie. John [Enbom] is writing it right now."
Apparently the whole cast is back (though word is still out on Jane Lynch, who is of course now very busy and important on
Glee), and filming will take place mid-year. Celebrate!
