This just in: three popular films/TV shows are getting smacked with the Hollywood magic wand.

First we have Bonnie and Clyde.

Variety has confirmed that indie studio Cypress Moon are remaking the classic 1967 film, which starred Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty.

Bonnie will be played by Hilary Duff. Apparently Dunaway is none too happy with her replacement. According to the Chicago Sun-Times when she was told about it, she said, ''Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?''

YOU GOT SERVED, HILARY DUFF. Dunaway you even bothered auditioning ...

* salutes *

Next cab off the rank is Tintin.

I know of two great things that come out of Belgium:

1) Tintin
2) Fucking excellent chocolate

And so it is that one of Belgium's most popular exports is being made into a feature for the big screen (Tintin that is, not chocolate).

This big screen adaptation actually shows a bit of promise. The adventures of the comic-strip hero and his faithful dog Snowy will be made by Steven Spielberg (with a follow-up film slated in with Peter Jackson at the helm). One of the most exciting things about this is that it is being shot with motion capture and 3D.

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorns will be written by Steven Moffat (Dr. Who), Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz), and Joe Cornish.

According to FilmDrunk, Jamie Bell (aka Billy Elliott) has been cast as Tintin, Daniel Craig (aka James Bond) will play Red Rackham and Andy Serkis (aka Gollum) will play Captain Haddock.

The latest casting news is that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) will be playing the Thompson twins.

This news was broken by the TimesOnline during an interview with Pegg:

…Pegg trots over to the motion-capture set for the ET director’s latest project - the first in a trilogy of Tintin movies. [Spielberg to direct the first, Peter Jackson the second] “Steven’s smoking a stogy, cap on head, like he’s always been since I was a baby [?],” Pegg says, shaking his head in wonder. “I shook his hand and chatted about films. He gave me the motion-capture camera, and I had a play around with it. Then he said, ‘Hey, maybe you and Nick Frost could play the Thompson Twins.’ In Tintin. A Spielberg movie. To work with him is beyond .. . ” He trails off, lost for words.

It's due to open in the States in 2011.

Finally, AND MOST DISTURBINGLY, they're talking about re-doing Absolutely Fabulous.

Variety reports that Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun) and Kathryn Hahn (Revolutionary Road) have been in at Fox studios reading for the parts. Johnston has been slated for the role of Patsy and Hahn has been reading for Edina.

We have but four words on this one: DON'T FUCKING TOUCH IT.
