Well looky here. "Our" Nicole has raunched it up a bit for a shoot in this month's Italian Vogue.

The black and white shots by photographer Peter Lindberg portray Kidman as an old-school European film star. Not unlike the character she plays in Rob Marshall's Nine.

"The more extreme the character, the better," exaplains Kidman in the feature article. "I'm most attracted to the characters that least resemble me."

Her upcoming role in The Danish Girl should fit the requirement: Kidman plays the part of Einar Wegener, aka Lili Elbe, one of the first recipients of a male-to-female transgender operation, who died in 1931 after post-surgical complications. "I love playing characters who find themselves on the margins of society, who don't conform."
