Fans of The Proposition will be pleased to hear that Nick Cave has penned another film script. And this time it's inspired by a Leonard Cohen song.

According to a number of fan websites, Death of a Ladies' Man will look at the life of a sex-addict traveling salesman who uses his door-to-door beauty products to meet women. And the word on the street is that professional-boxer-turned-actor Ray Winstone will be taking the lead role.

The film is set to be directed by John Hillcoat, who was also at the helm for The Proposition.

Apparently Cave completed the script quite some time ago, but production has been stalled a few times as director Hillcoat has been a busy lad. He's been working on a film called The Road, starring Viggo Mortenson, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and young Australian actor Kodi Smit-Phee, which is scheduled for release next year.

According to sources, production on Death of a Ladies' Man will begin as soon as Hillcoat has wrapped on The Road.

Cave's new film will be financed by FilmFour, the movie-making unit of British broadcaster Channel 4. Former FilmFour chief Paul Webster will produce the film through production company Kudos Pictures.

"Nick Cave and John Hillcoat are among the freshest, most distinctive voices in cinema today," Webster told The Hollywood Reporter. FilmFour and Channel 4 head of drama Tessa Ross described the film as "darkly comic and exciting", adding that Hillcoat and Cave as a pairing were "exceptionally powerful".

Get excited.
