A new trailer has been released for the upcoming 84th Annual Academy Awards. And if you were expecting the institution to perhaps use the new year as an excuse to reboot its archaic reputation....well, you probably haven't figured out how to use torrents.
Transformers stars (if there's such a thing) Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel team up to play investigators trying to track down "The Host." Along the way they meet lippy bartender Vinnie Jones and the fur-clad Robin Williams (serving up clunker #1) on their way to reveal — shock, horror — "The Host", aka Billy Crystal (serving up clunker #2). Crystal has hosted the awards eight times in the last twenty-two years — his hosting debut was in 1990 — because no-one suitable for the role has come to prominence since then across the entire entertainment industry. Evidently.
If only Hit-Girl had of been waiting in the wings.
The 2012 Oscar nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 24
th with the awards show airing Sunday, February 26
th.
