I'm pretty excited about
Inception.
The film is set,
"In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a single idea within one's mind can be the most dangerous weapon or the most valuable asset."
Does that not sound exciting to you?! No? How about this: Inception is, "
a contemporary sci-fi action thriller set within the architecture of the mind".
The architecture of the mind!!! I'm kind of beside myself. Mostly, I think, because it reminds me of when I went to uni and was made to write 1500 words on films like
Abre los ojos* and the perils of lucid dreaming.
It's one of
those kinds of films.
The ones that become a study on basic epistemology, the way we perceive our reality and the ways in which film blurs the boundaries between reality and dreams.
It makes me want to talk about power, knowledge and discourse, and reference Foucalt as much as possible (but then just get a credit/pass because I haven't actually linked my argument, I've just used a bunch of key words and a lot of thesaurus), just like ol' times!
A second trailer for the film as well as a bunch of photos from the movie have just been released. Please discuss:
