Metallica confirm release date of 3D film, trade in sunglasses
Metallica have finally locked in an August 9 US release date for their upcoming 3D film.
And not only does it now have a title – Metallica Through the Never – but it also has a plot. A press release from Picturehouse, the film’s distributor, announced today that the film will star Dane DeHaan (Chronicle). DeHaan plays a young crew member “sent out on an urgent mission while the band is playing a rousing live set in front of a sold-out crowd and unexpectedly finds his world turned completely upside down.” Cool story, bro.
Nimród Antal wrote and directed the film. Antal previously directed both Kontroll and Predators, so Through the Never could either be a gleefully subversive thrill ride or Captain EO with guitars.
Metallica Through the Never will be the first film from the recently rebooted Picturehouse, now independent after being sold by Time Warner.
No word yet on an Australian theatrical release. For more info, head to Metallica’s official site.
