You know you’ve had too much when you’re Liza Minnelli and struggling to perform an adequate – or even remotely lucid – rendition of Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York.
The 65-year-old icon was honoured at the New York Landmarks Conservancy awards at the swanky Plaza Hotel last week, and, according to New York Daily News, “was too wrecked to perform.”
After over-doing the cigs and booze, Minnelli made her way on stage to accept her award, and was “a total mess... cling[ing] to the podium for dear life, preceded[ing] to slur her way, rambling, unable to sing,” said a very lucky onlooker who was privy to the magic.
Unfortunately for the superstar, camera phones are rife and we came across this almost three-minute-long recording of her inebriated microphone dealings. No judgement Liza, we’ve all been there.
