Lance Armstrong biopic in the works

Following in the immediate wake of Lance Armstrong’s confession to doping, Deadline has recently reported that producers J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk have signed on to make a movie about the rise and fall of the disgraced cyclist. The duo have just closed a deal for the screen rights to Cycle of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong, a proposed book that will be written by Juliet Macur. Mancur, a sports journalist, has covered Armstrong for over a decade in her capacity as a sports reporter for The New York Times.

In 2006 there were rumours of a Lance Armstrong Sony biopic in the works, with Jake Gyllenhaall lined up to play the lead. We’re willing to wager that this more recent project will portray things a little differently from any 2006 version that was proposed.
