The Melbourne International Film Festival has been screening interesting, challenging and entertaining cinema to Melbournians (and friends) since 1952. Impressive! So, to mark the festival’s 60th anniversary, an extra special program has been tailored to celebrate the festival’s unique cultural heritage. From today, you can take a sneak peek at this year's program over on their First Glance page.

While we don't yet know what opening night has in store, Australian film Red Dog - the heartwarming tale of an Australian country town and the dog it loved - will be closing the festival.

This year MIFF will also feature the Australian premiere screening of Scenes from the Suburbs, by Spike Jonze and featuring the music of Arcade Fire. Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest will screen as part of the festival's esteemed section, Backbeat. Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre which stars Mia Wasikowska as Jane, and The Kid with a Bike will both be included in International Panorama.

And there's so much more! Take a look and while you're there grab your eMini and opening and closing night tickets!

Stay tuned for a full, official program on July 8.
