Empire has debuted a new trailer for Troy Nixey's Don't be Afraid of the Dark and if you, like me, are already scared of baddies trying to kill you after sundown then this movie will do nothing to help that and will most definitely make you more afraid of the dark.

Nixey is the protege of Guillermo del Toro who produced and co-wrote the movie, which is based on a 1973 tele-movie.

It follows Sally (Bailee Madison), a young girl who moves into a very haunted looking mansion with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes). Because of course! Surely nothing could go wrong in a creepy old mansion?! Well, it does. Sally starts to hear voices coming from the basement and it seems like something wants to kill her, or do something equally as terrifying.

Don't be Afraid of the Dark will be screening on the closing night of this year's Los Angeles Film Festival.
