There is nothing quite like the spurious explosion of socially unacceptable vocabulary that is swearing. Although we grasp thousands of words, in times of stress or absolute joy only a four-letter word will effectively express our inner most sentiments.

Film has always been the source of the most creative form of swearing with the best exponents quickly becoming part of everyday dialogue. Admittedly, Tarantino has furthered the cause tremendously with films such as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, but swearing has a long and proud filmic tradition.

We have compiled our favourite swearing moments on film. We were looking not just at the creative use but also the contextual use of one of the most liberating forms of expression.

Worthy of being on the list for the amount of cursing at the mouths of 12 year olds. The word “shit” is said 19 times by the main characters. Don’t see that in kids films anymore.
