A sequel for Alice in Wonderland?

Reports have recently circulated that Alice in Wonderland screenwriter Linda Woolverton is penning a sequel to 2010's dreamy fantasy epic. Woolverton is a Disney favourite, having written the screenplays for Disney classics Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. More recently, she wrote the screenplay Maleficent, a 2014 film based on the Sleeping Beauty fable and which stars Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.

No news on whether the cast will deviate much from the original, or where the new plot will take us. First film producers Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd are reportedly on board.

The first film, which saw Tim Burton re-imagine the Alice story within a warped, lush, 3-D world, grossed over a billion dollars in the box office worldwide.
