Christina Hendricks has landed the lead in Ryan Gosling’s upcoming How To Catch A Monster directional debut, and Vulture has reported that no, the baby goose did not “ring her up and say simply, ‘Hey girl, I've got a script for you?’”
Over the weekend the Mad Men star shed a little more light on the film’s plot, revealing that she’ll breathe life into a single mother who is “supporting two children and trying to provide a home for them and a place of comfort in a continuously harder place to be.
“I find myself working in this very surreal club that gets me into a sort of predicament."
And by surreal, she means fetish. Hendricks let slip that her character makes ends meet in a “fetish club” while her on-screen children “are off on their own adventures, discover[ing] this underground city.”
According to an earlier statement released by the filmmakers, the cinematic plot otherwise “weaves elements of fantasy, noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.”
Shooting will commence early 2013. Hopefully the world doesn’t end before then.
