In the sixties Warhol was the King of Pop and New York was his castle. And while in Oz we all seem to dream of New York pop capers and cavorting (or at least I do) - for the last decade, Pop Art has had a new home. And that home is Japan.
The Japanese head of this latterday Pop kingdom is Takashi Murakami. He is the bubblegum master who spear headed the Superflat movement, guided the lost soul of the artist Dalek and busted out some fame with a co-lab with Louis Vuitton.
It's no small feat that New Order Magazine have scored a cover with Murakami. And just to try and tempt you into buy two copies of this latest edition, they've done that really annoying thing of also releasing a second cover by the equally cool KAWS ONE. Get tempted at the launch of this latest issue at Dont Come.
In the meantime, check out this interview with Takashi Murakami by Jonathan Ross on Japanorama.
