Over at the Hollywood Reporter they have done the research and compiled a list of the ten most pirated films of 2009. Anyone with a computer and a pulse would be aware that since the advent of the internet users have looked for ways to illegally distribute movies and music. It seems that regardless of lawsuits and torrent sites being regularly shutdown the unauthorised sharing of files continues unabated.

According to the site it seems that Star Trek takes the dubious honour of being the most pirated film of the year with over 11 million downloads since the film’s release. Coming in at number two and only slightly behind was the insufferable Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The film certainly proved popular amongst middle age men the world over unwilling to pay the movie ticket but happy to perv on Megan Fox from the comfort of their own home.

Most films on the list are expected but for some strange reason Guy Ritchie's average RocknRolla came in third. The film didn’t do that well at the box office nor did it have any big names or excessive nudity that could have caused over 9 million people to want to download it. Together with Sherlock Holmes’ box office taking I think things may be looking up for Mr. Ritchie.
