Gee - it's not a great day to be a celebrity, is it?
First
Farrah Fawcett, then
Michael Jackson, now there are reports that actor
Jeff Goldblum died this morning while filming in New Zealand.
There are no official confirmations of the death as of yet, but police in New Zealand have apparently leaked to the press that Goldblum fell more than 60 feet to his death on a film set on the Kauti Cliffs.
Apparently the accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12).
Having said all that, according to
IMDB, Goldblum is currently working on the film
Morning Glory with Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams - and that film is being made mostly in NYC. And that could mean this whole thing is a dirty hoax.
More as it comes to hand.
** UPDATE, 11.36am **
The actor's publicist has denied the story.
Lisa Kasteler states, "Reports that Jeff Goldblum has passed away are completely untrue. He is fine and in Los Angeles."
And this from Kevin Spacey's Twitter:
It now appears that the rumour of Goldblum's death originated on a
spoof website that generates generic news stories about celebrity
deaths.
FakeAWish.com allows users to type in a
celebrity name - such as Jeff Goldblum - and spits out a fake news
story saying he has "died while filming a movie in New Zealand early
this morning" after falling off a cliff.
