VITA 4
Vita Audio are a UK-based company producing a super slick range of radios and stereos. We can’t help but notice a few design cues shared between Vita and the super stylish US based Tivoli range, but that’s not to say they aren’t without their own unique charms. Just clicking through the Vita website had me reaching for my credit card - the whole range is so darn appealing. The R4 Integrated Music System just reeks of cool, compact functionality, but they don’t come cheap at £550 ($1,175 AUD). You probably won’t see these bad boys down at your local electronics store.

THE REALITY IS ...
Wander around any design school, and chances are you’ll hear the name Philippe Starck thrown around as though it were crap in the monkey enclosure. Starck is to design as Led Zeppelin is to rock 'n' roll (everyone loves him, some people just don’t know it yet).
Word on the street is that Starck will be leading the search to find Britain’s next top designer on BB2’s newest reality TV show, School of Design. The show will give ten aspiring designers the opportunity to work alongside the product design heavyweight over several months. Awesome.

WAYFINDING MELBOURNE
It’s not until you stop and think about it, that you realise signage is bloody everywhere. You can’t go five seconds without being told to pull this or push that by some boring block font. Signage is kind of a subliminal controller of our day to day actions. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see well-designed signage, like the Axel Peemöller designed car park wayfinding in Melbourne’s Eureka tower. Peemöller has employed some clever perspective tricks that make the directions stand out when viewed from the correct angle. Check out the pics in the gallery.

SHIT BOX
Let’s just start this one by acknowledging that everyone does it. Right, now that’s out of the way, check out the Shit Box! It’s a cardboard portable toilet. Pop-up cardboard furniture is becoming more and more popular these day, as it’s so bloody cheap to make and ship (flat pack is the way of the future my friends… just ask Ikea). For all of the grossness that goes along with it, this is actually a cracking idea. I wish I had one that night I was driving back from the country, but that’s another story.
The Shitbox is produced by the aptly named Brown Corporation and their website is a pisser, er I mean funny (sorry).

Here’s a guy who has one:
