Sean Morris is a super hardworking member of the Perth art community who makes and creates within the Last Chance complex alongside some other dedicated and prolific local artists and designers.

Sean let us take a virtual tour of his studio and take a look inside his sketchbooks.

Where is your studio?
LAST CHANCE is a shopfront studio in an old building on William Street in Perth city... it started out as an open plan painting/graffiti/illustration workspace but it's become more of a collective than just a physical base, and includes myself, Creepy, Kid Zoom, Daek, Timothy Rollin, Ryan Boserio, THNK, Yohyo and Pete Long.

What are the main things that happen in your studio?
Chess, beer pong, hairdressing, youtube, chatroulette, occasional dinner parties, getting the windows scratched or smashed in by angry graf kids, listening to Weezer/Lil' Wayne mashups. And some art.

(check out the corresponding photos in the gallery)

00 Photo of Sean:
This is me. Everyone in the studio has matching jackets. They have Last Chance embroidered on the back and our initials on the front. It's pretty obnoxious.

01 Childhood and Tools.
I don't remember where the Ghostbusters cup came from but i've had it since i was a kid. Now it's my paintbrush cup. Ghostbusters rules.

02 Foundskull.
I found the skull eraser in a gift shop a while ago but never had the heart to use it. Now it's nailed to the wall. Being able to paint wherever we want in here is also pretty great.

03 Friend and Pet.
Studio pals - Timothy Rollin, Clarence the 3-legged cat and Ryan Boserio... with paintings in the background by Daek.

04 Listening.
Song of the moment is 'The Weekenders' by The Hold Steady. I am pretty heavily into everything that band has ever done though.

05 Messy Corner.
I get super messy while i'm working but then tend to get my neat freak on in between. This corner is full of general studio odds and ends.

06 Pin Up Board.
(I like looking at other people's pin up boards) heaps, I like that they can be a visual map of the inside of someone's brain, as weird or scary as that might be.

07 Reading.
These are some books I had lying around at the studio; at home I'm re-reading a bunch of old Roald Dahl books. So good. But so much weirder and more depressing than you realise as a kid.

08 Sketch One.
I'm not always with a sketchbook.  I have to actually force myself to sit down and sketch. Usually I'll just think of an idea in bed at 3am and then draw and re-draw until i get something that matches the picture in my head.

09 Sketch Two.
I think that deep down, everyone definitely has more of an intense curiosity for this kinda (sexy / perverse) stuff. The reaction to works like these has been a bit mixed though - mainly, other artists seem to be super into it, but most people who loved the folky stuff i used to do aren't really eating it up. That doesn't mean i'm going to stop doing it though.

10 Tools.
Favourite tool of the moment is probably the holographic Australia Games '85 Kodak ruler you can see sitting in the tool box, which was a gift from the very generous Mr. Creepy.

11 Work in progress.
Just defacing a couple of op-shop purchases for fun.

What is your next big project or exhibition?
Last Chance is hitting the east coast for an exhibition tour/double header - putting on a show at Oh Really in Sydney on September 30 and then another at No Vacancy Project Space in Melbourne on October 8th. Which is my birthday. So everyone should come or I'll be devastated.Â
