Aussie painter made good in the world,
Anthony Lister, was listed by Australian Art Collector in their last round up as one of our top 50 most collectible artists. And now he's about to have his second solo show with New York gallery Lyons Wier. But even after climbing these heights of collectible respectability, Lister is still celebrating free form fun, super heroes and some luscious ladies.
In this new show there is no hint that expectation or reputation have seized him or caused him to second guess a more respectable audience. It's all still fresh, alive and pulsing with child-like awesome.
As well as his trademark action paintings, Lister is also presenting some small scale works on paper which represent nice opportunities for entry level collectors. These little sketches are coffee stained moments of ace which show Lister's natural, free flowing skills with a dash of personal intimacy.
If you can't be in New York, have a little preview of some of the highlights here.
