Uh-oh, I'm getting soft in my old age.

Last week True Beauty debuted on Channel 7, and the ads sucked me in "beautiful people are stupid and vain, tune in to watch them get humiliated!"

Too right.

First episode, these vain harpies and himbos were sent to a plastic surgeon to be given a mathematical evaluation of their beauty.  After being measured, poked and prodded, they were told their 'beauty scores' and two people were sent off to elimination.

In the meanwhile, however, we watched their behaviour, with commentary by "expert" judges.  We were shown that some of them flicked through folders of private information when given the opportunity.  We were shown that some of them made catty remarks (no!) when allowed the opportunity.

At the end, the girl being kicked off was told she was not beautiful on the inside, at which point she threw a tantrum, flipped off the judges, and stalked out proudly.

Cool.  I was happy with that.  Hot people are bitches, okay, I have learned this lesson from this television show.

But last night !!!  Last night the 'beauties' were given $100 and told to go out to fancy pants boutiques and buy outfits for their whole team (teams of three).  So I saw:
a)    them begging for money
b)    them begging for free clothes
c)    them pretending to be from a charity in order to get money/clothes
d)    more bitchy comments

It got to me, I didn't like them, but I particularly didn't like that the camera man filmed them doing this (isn't impersonating charity illegal?) and the producers went along with it.

The discipline?  One blonde bimbo was booted off the show, again told she wasn't beautiful on the inside.  Only this time there was no fabulous tantrum, really, just a blank stare and I wondered, "who is benefiting from watching this?"

Not me.  I can't believe it has taken me only two weeks to feel sick about this show.  Me, who sat through many seasons of Flavor of Love, Rock of Love and I Love New York.
