To help raise funds for East Timor’s first feature film, ‘A Guerra Da Beatriz,’ FairTrade Films and Dili Film Works are holding a series of film screenings in Dili throughout October.

Beginning on Thursday October 13th we will present the new documentary by FairTrade Films, ‘Trafficked – The Reckoning.’ After airing in Australia on SBS Television on September 20th it was described by The AGE as ‘This year’s best Australian documentary. A Heart wrenching, suspenseful film, with surprising humour given the subject matter.’ Following the screening we will be holding a Q & A with director Luigi Acquisto.

‘Trafficked – The Reckoning’ is the gripping story of a former police officer’s investigation to find the man who brutally enslaved a Thai teenager in an Australian brothel. Ning was thirteen when she was trafficked from a small Thai town and sold to a Sydney brothel operator.  Chris Payne, then an Australian Federal Police officer, was angry that 'Paper Tiger', a rogue operation that he’d started to combat sex trafficking, had been shut down, and that he was ordered not to investigate Ning's case. Fifteen years later Payne mounts an investigation, determined to solve this cold case, and to put to rest some unfinished business.

Tickets will be available at the door and can also be purchased pre-sale from the Dili Film Works office in Bemori.
