The editor of Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani has created a campaign against websites and blogs which promote anorexia, along with a petition for people sign in ordered to get these websites shut down. Vogue Italia has teamed up with the Association for Eating Disorders to help stop these websites and blogs from giving tips on how to loose weight rapidly to become anorexic and posting images of extremely skinny women for ‘thinspiration’.

The fashion industry is often seen as a big cause for anorexia and eating disorders, not only are women affected but men as well can be the victims of anorexia. Often we see designers using skinny models in photo shoots and on the runway, although it is becoming more common in the fashion industry to use real/plus sized models and the push for retouched photos to be recognized has been spoken of and attempted by some magazines. “Fashion has been always blamed as one of the culprits of anorexia, and our commitment  is the proof that fashion is ready to get on the front line and struggle against the disorder” says Franca Sozzani.
Anorexia Nervosa is only one of the many eating disorders, alongside Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorders and  long list of other types of disorders follow.
Eating disorders are a ‘highly complex and serious mental and physical illnesses’ says The Butterfly Foundation.
