Advance Australia Fair was written by Peter Dodds McCormick under the pen name 'Amicus' . First performed in 1878  it became the anthem more than 100 years later in 1984.

 

The second verse includes the lines:

 

For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share


When Dodds McCormick Died in 1916, he was buried in Rookwood Cemetery

 

Yesterday another body was interred a Rookwood, the largest burial site in the Southern Hemisphere - a victim of the December 2010 Christmas Island shipwreck.
