Bluebelly has been aware for some time of the growing use of mephedrone (also known as 4-mmc, 4-methylmethcathinone, C4, M-Cat, and even 'fuzz'). It's generally a white powder, typically sold on the internet as 'plant food' and has effects similar to cocaine or ecstasy.
Some users have enjoyed its effects, while others have found the come-downs difficult and have felt it to have a high potential for addiction.
It is by all reports illegal in Australia but still seems to be legal in the UK.
There has been a lot of recent reporting of this relatively new substance, including some
bizarre-sounding side effects and Australians have been
specifically targetted in what seems to be an attempt to prevent the use of mephedrone from taking off.
New chemicals bring about an extra level of risk - that is of the great unknown.
Our advice? Do your research. And also a gentle reminder - be aware of what a criminal conviction can mean.
