So it's that time again - Mardi Gras!
Just as everyone has recovered from their hang-overs and come-downs from last year, it seems to have rolled around again in record time. Hope you've been to the gym!

What are the key events of Mardi Gras this year?

Fair Day

Fair Day occurs on Sunday, 15 February. 75,000 people flock to Victoria Park to enjoy the sunshine (hopefully), music, food, drinks and to welcome in Mardi Gras for the season.
I don't personally find Fair Day to be particularly exciting, but it's a nice chilled way to spend the day with friends, and also to check out the imported talent who, all going well, you will be getting to know a lot better over the coming weeks.

Pool Party

The Pool Party is held at Victoria park and is an afternoon/evening party for around 1,600 people. Curiously (though rather sensibly) this is an alcohol free event, so these party-goers dance and swim substance free (or so they say) into the night. I've never been but apparently this is a blast!
Any excuse to get your kit off I guess ;-)

Harbour Party

The Harbour Party is always held at Mrs. Macquaries Chair 6 days before the final event- the Mardi Gras Parade. This is the only large outdoor gay dance party of the year (let's ignore the disaster that is Summer Gay Day) and it is amazing. A couple of thousand guys, city skyline and harbour views at sunset, awesome DJ's and of course, super hot guys. What's not to love?
This is my favourite event of the entire year.
It's that good.

Mardi Gras Parade

Im going to say something controversial now. The Mardi Gras Parade is not for gay people. Not really. It's a spectacle created by gay people for straight people to ooh and aaah at the bright lights and "those wacky gays". The parade is held to bring in tourists, so that the rest of the Mardi Gras season can be paid for, and allowed by the city council.
It's boring. I will be spending the time getting ready for:

The Mardi Gras Party

The Mardi Gras Party is held right after the parade and is considered one of the best gay events in the world. 18,000 people pack a number of venues and halls around the Entertainment Quarter to dance the night away.
International DJs, awesome lighting and visual displays and a REAL party atmosphere make this a super-exciting event! And of course it has... super hot guys!

Have fun, be safe, and post the numbers of any guys you meet who I might like :-D
