There are two types of women in the world: those who can walk in heels, and those who can't.
Sadly, I belong to the second group. That's right folks; I'm what is generally referred to as a big old klutz. I bruise easily too, which doesn't help. I'm yet to enjoy a summer of gorgeous, long, tanned legs that aren't covered in bruises from tripping over things, walking into things or simply falling down.
That's why I stick to flats whenever possible. Not for me the long walk to work in a pair of sneakers, only to change into some towering, sexy stilettos as soon as I hit the office. If I'm walking to work in sneakers, chances are I'm staying in them!
Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't adore shoes. I AM a woman after all. I just prefer ones that aren't going to result in me breaking an ankle. So my wardrobe is full of ballet flats, sparkly points, beaded sandals, at least one thousand pairs of thongs and of course, plenty of little canvas casuals.
The discovery
I had happily resigned myself to a life at ground level. I was more than content to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. And I had definitely given up hope of ever looking taller than my measly 156cm.
But then…I discovered the wedge.
Many of you have probably been getting around in wedge heels for a while now, possibly for decades. But you see, for some reason the idea had never popped into my head.
And then I tried a pair of black Pedestrian wedge heels from Style Tread and my life changed forever. Look! I'm up high! Here I am! Watch as I tower above my friends (ok, they were sitting on the couch at the time) and trot around my lounge like a mini Gisele Bundchen!
It was a miracle!
From that day on, I've never looked back. I'm no longer the stumpy girl at the wedding, and I've definitely found a way to jazz up a lot of my tired, old outfits.
Currently topping my wishlist are a pair of Django & Juliette Gova wedges.
Although, as much as I praise the power of the wedge, I'll always have a soft spot for my ballet flats. They don't call Audrey Hepburn a style icon for nothing!
The saviours
Style Tread has got an amazing range of wedges to choose from. And with free delivery and free 100-day returns you can buy a truckload and just send back the ones that don't fit!
Speaking of which, they are currently giving away a truckload of shoes to one lucky person. Literally.
The reason
It's difficult to put into words how much I want to be that lucky person. I am constantly buying shoes, but it seems like I never have enough.
And how brilliant that they'll be arriving by truck, because Style Tread shoes are guaranteed to stop traffic. So it's going to be smooth sailing right to my front yard, where I'll be ready and waiting to meet my new best friends (both the shoes AND the girls who picked them out!)
And who knows, if the Style Tread team can find me a pair of "training heels" I might someday find myself strutting around in a real, live pair of stilettos.
Stranger things have happened!
