Sometimes New Zealand gets a bad rap in Australia. Jokes about sheep, jandals and having an ugly ex-prime minister, abound. Being from NZ, I would like to take this opportunity to educate Australians on some of the highlights of NZ.
In no particular order:
Natural Vistas

If you get outside of Auckland (ewwww), NZ looks like this all over the place!
Beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, beaches... NZ has a great range of landscapes. So put down that latte and go for an explore!
Dan Carter

Dan Carter is perfection. 26 y.o, freakin hot, an All Black and super down to earth.
Guys want to be him, girls want to be with him, and gay guys want to be him AND be with him.
Despite being the worlds best No.10, DC is extremely down to earth, friendly and lovely.. What's not to love?
Shortland Street

Shortland Street is NZ's Home & Away. Set in an Auckland hospital, SS is pretty poorly acted, with cheap sets, corny storylines- and it's great! A perfect example of kiwiana, SS has always reflected NZ culture and looks set to stay.
Fashion

NZ fashion is world-class! Natural fibres, unfinished edges, asymmetrical cuts, it certainly has a unique look. Winter fashion in NZ is particularly notable, for the dark greys, blues, browns, natural woollen pieces and trendy layers. Where else is better to top up on Winter fashion than the home of wind and rain- Wellington!
Guys

Maori guys are H.O.T. Am I allowed to say that? I just did!
Generally brown, muscly, big smiles, a tattoo here and there... nice.
And they invented the Haka! Clever boys :-)
Friendly Locals

NZ is one of those few countries where you could still pop next door to borrow a cup of sugar (if you're into baking for example) without having the police called.
These two look very friendly don't they? They're stock footage from a tourism website, however I bet they look this friendly all the time.
What do you love about NZ?
