Lately I
find myself lured by the fashion of old. Actually I lie, I've always
been lured by it, just feeling more drawn to it than usual. If I had
enough couture to leave the house every day dolled up in 30's, 40's and
50's attire, I would be in heaven! Sadly not practical or quite
achievable right now plus I do love modern pieces but I just don't think
they make things they way they used to. Sound familiar? Like your
gran?!
A loved one who knows me very well bought me this card a
few years ago, I will never be able to throw it away. Look at her, the
glamor, the elegance, it is stunning. All I can do is endeavour to
borrow a few ideas from her ensemble, the gloves, hat, pearls and mix
and match them when I go out. Imagine if I waltzed up to a 'do' even
relatively formal one dolled up like Foxy there I would be excessively
overdressed unless it was the Oscars!

Here is
the happy medium you may have seen before, modeled here by the gorgeous
Tamika, just a few old school elements, op shop gloves and Russian hat
(excellent in colder months might I add!), my favourite e-bay buy orange
and brown floral vintage dress and the shoes I found in Buenos Aires, I
bought them because they are pretty and of course they reminded me of
another era. Historic elegance, think some drop earrings, pearls, art
deco jewels (all the rage at the moment), lace up shoes, peep toes with
stocking (yes I said it!), brogues, full skirts, drop waits, flared high
waist trousers, you get a sense for the pieces that will work to bring
back the past. For some opping inspiration try
I op therefore I am . Until next
time, stay swell!
