This October, Vogue Paris is celebrating its 90th anniversary and boy is editor Carine Roitfeld making sure it's a highly blogable one!

It would seem that controversy is the order of the issue, with everything from breasts on the cover, to an editorial with an 11-year-old model, all the way to this shoot, which centers around a food binge and features Crystal Renn deep throating a squid, amongst other things.

Roitfeld loves contentious editorials, and every Richardson shoot smacks of sex (and usually not in a good way), so for me the surprising part revolves around the fact that it stars plus-size ambassador Crystal Renn.

I love Renn, not only is she a total babe, but she's usually very willing to stand up for what she feels needs to be fixed in the industry. So for me, this editorial loses a whole heap of momentum in that Renn is simply being pictured as a plus-size model shoveling food down her throat.

As Sophie Dahl said recently, "As long as a curvy girl is held up as an anomaly, the whole thing is being perpetuated. When a curvy girl is no longer being hailed as different, we've made progress."

But, perhaps it doesn't help that Richardson's reputation precedes him and the fairly cheap sexual overtones he employs are starting to grind my gears?

Without a doubt the colors of the clothes, the jewellery and the food, combined with Renn's natural ability to look good, works. Maybe it's just a classic case of opulent accessories alongside an absolute abundance of food being taken too far.

Is it provocative, offensive or hot to you?

Thanks to the very wonderful Mia Muse for sending me this shoot.
