The past few days have been baffling for me: Julia Gillard is copping it from the media for not being married, while
Johanna Siguroardottir the Prime Minister of Iceland makes history by marrying her female partner and now I, the owner of a lifestyle sexuality brand, am hearing about "
Christian sex-toys".
I didn’t know sex-toys were Christian! I’d always thought they were generally atheist (all I think of here is J. Gillard, bless!), so I was quite surprised to discover that now they could be.
Is the sex-toy baptised, or does it become Christian when the owners ‘baptise it’ themselves?
The answer is no, the toys aren’t baptised. I think though, what Kevin and Joy as the owners of Book22 are suggesting, is that when a married couple buy the toy, it then
becomes Christian.
Is it by way of osmosis?
Can we then assume that when a homosexual couple buy a dog, the dog then become homosexual too?
On a more positive note, I do like the fact that they’re trying to help married couples with their sex lives and intimacy - I think these elements within a relationship are crucial. But, if you’re so damn Chrisitian, then you probably shouldn't be discriminating against people who aren't.
On the website for Book22 Intimacy Products for Married Couples, it reads:
It is our company's policy that the products we sell be purchased for married couples only. As explained in the book of Genesis, God created woman from man's flesh and bone to be his companion.
Oh, sorry Book22, but during the fist eight weeks of gestation all embryos appear to be female, it is only when the embryo, at around 7 weeks has two X chromosomes, that it continues to develop as a female. If it has one Y chromosome, it will begin to produce testosterone, which stimulates the growth of rudimentary male sexual features. And because Christians don’t believe in abortion because human life begins at development of the foetus then surely you’d agree with the truth, that, Adam actually comes from Eve.*
Basically, I shouldn’t even bother proving you’re wrong, but, lets do it. Well not
it, but it, as in, keep arguing for the sake of it.
They continue:
…In so doing, he illustrated that in marriage man and woman symbolically become one flesh. A common theme throughout the Bible is sexual purity. One example of this can be found in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, "For God wants you to be holy and pure and to keep clear of sexual sin so that each of you will marry in holiness and honor." We want to encourage God's plan for people to remain sexually pure, that is why we offer our products to married couples only.
Aside from that being an ABSURD mission statement, Kevin and Joy, if you do believe sex out of wed-lock is a sin - including sex with yourself! - then surely you must believe that selling sex-toys with harmful chemicals in them is also a sin? And, wishful thinking here, but even owning a website that looks like yours in this day and age, a sin too? I know, I know, you’re going for the Christian feel.
Book22 is owned and operated by Kevin and Joy Wilson. We are a Christian couple who have been married for over 14 years now. We have prayed every step of the way for guidance on what products to offer on this site.
This bit is the most hilarious (read: concerning), because Big Kev and Joy Joy have
prayed for guidance as to which toys to pick.
Shirley Phelps wouldn’t be happy with you guys right now (although that’s not surprising) because God actually doesn’t seem very all-knowing giving this advice. Actually, I shouldn’t say that, I should say, obviously God is a little bit behind the 8-ball when it comes to knowing his sex-toys and that’s fine, but y'all should definitely let him know, that providing a product range like the one he has suggested is actually a little bit BC and he really needs to get down, these days, with being PC.
Anyway, we at
Mia Muse are down with acceptance of everyone, although it may seem like I’m just dissing K & J here. We're all about the love of ourselves so we can share it best, with
others – if that’s your thing.
I just don’t understand how you can have a business that’s meant to be about improving the love in the world by helping the lovers of the world and in doing so, actually seem like the haters.
