The Avengers on stage with director Joss Whedon

The comic fans who had lined since the wee hours of Saturday morning to attend the Marvel panel at Comic-Con were well and truly rewarded this afternoon.

The cast and newly-announced director of The Avengers movie Joss Whedon appeared on stage after the preview of coming films Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

The crowd went batshit insane as Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) introduced director Joss Whedon and the film's cast, including Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury),  Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).

The film is scheduled for release in 2012.

Cmon Mark Ruffalo isn't that bad. I think it's a solid cast. Jeremy Renner is well suited for the rold of Hawkeye.
