It is easy to be picky on Nikki

Monday, May 26, 2008
Now, I'm going to do my best not to dump on Nikki Webster. It's been done time and time again, and it's just not original.

But today I received a press release that made me go "WTF, Nikki? WTF?"

And I quote:

"Nobody will leave baby in the corner once she has attended the latest sensation taking place every Friday at the Dance @ Nikki Webster performing arts studio.

Juggling handbags, heels and cocktails on the dance floor was challenging until Handbags and Heels dance classes emerged.

Director Nikki Webster introduced the classes to teach women how to feel comfortable and confident when they dance with their handbags, instead of placing them perilously on the ground.

“I would often see women around me struggling to move fluidly and thought it would be a great idea to demonstrate easy to follow dance movements with a handbag” says Webster.

"The classes are all about trying out moves you were always embarrassed to try in a women-only setting.”

Students are required to be over the age of 18 and bring the heels and handbag they would wear on a night out dancing. Dance @ Nikki Webster provides a glass of
champagne on arrival and plays current music to recreate a nightclub environment."

Now, if any of you out there has a Friday night free and lives in the Sydney area, you simply MUST attend and report back to TheVine.

Extra points if you're a bloke and you dress up in lady-clothes to attend.

"FAIL"

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with showing the world that you are an adult now by having pictures in magazines. If people think these pictures doesnt suit her because they still have this 13 year old girl image in their head, then I think those people should really grow up. Having pretty pictures in magazines is way better than having drunk driving pictures. If people think 'why would she go for the hot photo shot in the first place'? It's simply because she can. I think concept of "Dance @ Nikki Webster" is innovative and it would be great to attend.

member7 New citizen member7 ON 29 May 2008 12:09:03PM Why would people think she looks like a moron? Would you be proud if your sister at the age of 19 find clothes in the 'children's wear' section?! It's just all part of growing up. Which girl at that age does't like to dress up and look pretty?! She has love and support from family and friends, it's not like she's out of control. As long as there's a limit (and assuming she knows the limit), then it's fine. There're so many out of control girls at her ages doing heaps of nasty things (such as smoke and do drugs).....So why criticise her for what a normal same age girl would do?!

Show and Tell

There are many things I enjoy. I like pictures of pets in costumes, Youtube videos of people hurting themselves and films that distract me for days on end. I'm also partial to the odd liturgical dance performance, watching episodes of Deadwood in bed and reading a great piece of writing that makes my heart sing. My love for all these things has landed me the gig of Entertainment Editor here at The Vine. So in the words of Robbie Williams, sit back and "Let me entertain you". *punches self in head*
