A movie about dogs acting like humans - WINNER

I can just see the Hollywood execs sitting around the boardroom. I'm pretty sure the brainstorming session for Beverly Hills Chihuahua went a little something like this:

Exec 1: We need to make a new movie. And I've been thinking. You know what people like?
Exec 2: What?
Exec 1: They like dogs. And specifically, they like really little dogs.
Exec 2: Mmm hmm.
Exec 1: And it would seem from the interwebs that they particularly like DOGS that dress up like PEOPLE!
Exec 2: Mmm hmm. I think we have our movie.

And so the good people at Disney decided to make this film about Chloe, a ritzy Beverly Hills pooch* who finds herself lost in Mexico.

Salma Hayek and Drew Barrymore lend their vocal talents to the film, which releases in cinemas on September 25.

But enough from me. Check out the trailer. And if you don't get at least a snigger out of the first one, check out the German version. If the dog shouting "Ich bin ein Chihuahua" doesn't tickle your fancy, well there's just no pleasing you.

*Please note this gratuitous avoidance of having to spell the word "chihuahua" again.

Show and Tell

There are many things I enjoy. I like pictures of pets in costumes, Youtube videos of people hurting themselves and films that distract me for days on end. I'm also partial to the odd liturgical dance performance, watching episodes of Deadwood in bed and reading a great piece of writing that makes my heart sing.
