Take two

Sunday, July 20, 2008
This season marks the return of the Supermodel. Style bibles worldwide have made it abundantly clear: the girls once fawned over by everyone from Gianni to George have come out of retirement. You may say they never left the scene. And for a few that may be true. But rest assured you won’t be seeing them sell watches or embellished denim; they’ll be draped in some serious designer duds instead. Linda is the new face of Prada, Claudia of Chanel, Naomi features in Yves Saint Laurent’s new campaign, while Eva is looking out from under an ensemble by Louis Vuitton. Whether the age of post-production and procedures has allowed them to yet again peddle wares to the wealthy, I don’t know. But as far as gimmicks go, it’s a good one – I’m rapidly tiring of celebrity endorsements, aren’t you?

Best of beauty

I’ve been a make-up artist for the better part of a decade now: working in the fashion industry, on television commercials, music video clips and as a beauty advisor. I'll be taking this opportunity to comment on beauty in a conventional sense but also discuss how it can be found in the everyday and the seemingly mudane.
