Not all its cracked up to be

Thursday, July 31, 2008
At the height of summer we long for winter - dreaming of toasted marshmallows, bowls of soup, cashmere sweaters and hotwater bottles - forgetting about the blustery days, cold air, dry skin and even drier lips. When winter does finally roll around we’re so conditioned by summer’s relaxed approach to skincare we neglect our bodies; exposing them to the elements unprotected. Our lips are often the first to be affected, becoming chapped and sore. Not to mention, thin and mean looking.

As a preventative measure it’s vital you slick on balm whenever possible. Try Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm Sunscreen Stick, Blistex Protective Lip Balm with AHA’s or Dermalogica’s Climate Control Lip Treatment. Apply it generously before venturing outside or going to bed. And put a little on prior to lipstick to help the colour glide on with ease.

Best of beauty

I’ve been a make-up artist for the better part of a decade now: working in the fashion industry, on television commercials, music video clips and as a beauty advisor. I'll be taking this opportunity to comment on beauty in a conventional sense but also discuss how it can be found in the everyday and the seemingly mudane.
