For a cause
M.A.C have just announced Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper as the new faces of the M.A.C AIDS Fund. The campaign, entitled ‘From Our Lips’, will be launched worldwide in March 2010, along with a limited edition Viva Glam Gaga and Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick. Former faces have included, Fergie, Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese and Eve, all of whom have gladly donated their time and celebrity to the cause. All proceeds from the sales of said lipsticks will go to the M.A.C AIDS Fund, bringing the total number of donations in excess of US$150 million.
Drawing blood
A controversial new anti-aging therapy has just been introduced, claiming to renew skin and give it a youthful glow. Fairly standard, agreed. The thing is, the teatment, called Stimulated Self Serum or S3 Therapy, works by drawing blood from the patient, separating the components of the blood, then adding vitamins and amino acids before injecting it back into their face. Administered at 4-6 monthly intervals, the therapy, inspired by dental treatments – surprise, surprise – is said to boost DNA production and heal scars. Little wonder it’s been dubbed "Dracula Therapy".
Hydration plus
“The world’s first patented resveratrol beverage”, a bottled water called Nutra Resveratrol Anti-Ageing Water, will soon be available in the US. Resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant, found in berries, red wine and grapes, is highly regarded as a means for preventing free radical cell damage and supporting the immune system. The water also contains DMAE, a skin-firming compound favoured by Dr Perricone, among others. Combined, this water may prove to be a powerful ally in the fight against ageing. Or not. Nevertheless, fingers crossed it finds a distributor here – every little bit helps, no?
