The shows are over, that much is true. And evidently so too is loose, free-flowing hair. Hair that is virtually style-less (hair that you don’t pay much attention to, and nor does anyone else) has been replaced. In short, if that describes your hair it’s time to experiment with a new look.

Sleek ponytails

While it might seem rather simply it’s actually incredibly difficult perfecting a sleek, slick ponytail - hence why many of us adopt the messy look. So do as they did at Calvin Klein and create a deep side part with a tail comb before sheaving your hair together using a natural bristle brush. Avoid bumps and irregularities the professional way by enlisting the help of a friend armed with a piece of very fine hat elastic (bought from a haberdashery store), asking them to tie the pony while you hold it at the nape. Be sure to do so when you hair is dry to avoid breakage - apply shine serum instead to smooth and finish.

Greasy side parts

At Alexander Wang models sported the look we most try to avoid: greasy roots and dry ends. So what if it looked lank! It was still down right cool and made a welcome change from all that “nothing” hair. Try it for yourself by applying enough grooming cream through the lengths to add weight and shine, then create a side part with a tail comb before sweeping the hair across your forehead and tucking it behind your ear.

Blow waves

Ah, the blow wave, it crops-up every season. But given it’s such a departure from the sleek, and also somewhat oily, nature of the aforementioned looks, it makes an even more glamorous, if not essential, addition to your repertoire.

Begin by parting damp hair in the centre; then using a large round brush add volume to the roots and soft curl to the ends as it dries. Add a touch of shine spray or serum to finish for glossy, sexy hair that bounces when you walk and gently frames your face at all other times.
