The birth of a shoe

Check these babies out. Nope they’re not Dita Von Teese’s, they’re ours, made especially for The Vine. But allow me to get off my high horse here, because you too can have a pair made especially for you. Custom made shoes aren’t just for burlesque dancers and Richy Riches any more. If you have access to the interwebs (and if your reading this chances are you do) you too can have your very own shoe desires fulfilled thanks to Princess Chic.

The online Australian shoe store has a wide selection of footwear to choose from, but if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for there is also a custom made section. This custom made range is full of classic and trend based styles that can allow you to pick the exact colour, style, material and have them hand made to your specific size. Princess Chic is also able to copy existing shoe designs, depending on what your requirements are.

So for The Vine’s very own shoe, we decided to take the whole return to lady-like court shoes in our stride and set our sights on the three strapped Mary Jane style named ‘Princess Ava’. The patent heel can easily fall into the fifties rockabilly category and will hopefully be one of those faithful pairs of pumps that simply go with everything. Fingers crossed.

So while we wait for the shoe stalk to bring us our Mary Jane baby, here are some pictures of it being made.

Dont support a 'brand' that is happy to copy someone else's designs. Shoe makers and designers (like myself) bust our balls to come up with new designs, and these douchebags just copy them and roll them out cheap and fast. Sigh, they even have Louboutin's Trademarked red soles on there (Which will probably get them a cease-and-desist letter in the near future). I'm up on my high horse on this one and I'm staying there. * Oh, and I have just found their blog, with an article about fake shoes and bags being like 'fake hair extensions and fake nails'... no. It's not the same, those things aren't stolen from hard earned intellectual property.

I think 'replicate' may be a better word to describe the service as I'm told the store caters more towards replicating old shoes you might already have, that you would like remade, rather than flat out copying high end designs.

Penny is right. We do not deliberately copy high end designer shoes. The Design Your Own Shoe concept is based on basic shoe designs with the customer adding the elements that they like to create something unique. In regards to the red sole, these are available through one of our manufacturers. Most of the designs that are available with a red sole look nothing like Loutboutins, we do not promote them as Louboutins or pretend in any way they are. And once again your comments about fake shoes and nails was taken out of context in your post. We did not say in any way that was OK to copy designs.'

I can't believe this company! I am a shoe designer and have just opened my own (small) company and thought I'd have a look at my competition. I found PrincessChic's website and thought I'd have a look. Not only did I see Louboutin & Choo clones; I also saw 2 of my shoes on their website. And no, not cloned! They were actual pictures of my shoes, copied straight from my website!! My brand/label was even in the shoes!! And to make it worse, these are under their 'made to order' shoes and they charge more than what I do!! How the hell do you sleep at night? I really hope you don't call yourself a shoe designer... Because you're far from it!!! I will be seeking legal advice for this!
