Taylor McKimens Gets Soft in NYC

Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Jeffrey Deitch is the super-star gallerist who brought us Barry McGee, Steve Powers, Todd James ... and ... ummm ... Yoko Ono too.  So, I sit up and look when he cuts the red ribbon.

Soft Serve features a new large portrait, four works on paper, and sculptural interventions by Taylor McKimens in a special exhibit in the Deitch storefront gallery. Taylor McKimens makes installation, sculpture, painting, and drawing all from a very elaborated world of his own creation: a world where the dark side of rural living inadvertently concocts elegant moments out of the repulsive and bizarre.

I like going to the Deitch website just to hear that crazy fairground music.  Trust me you can not dance to it - that is a challenge!
